At a glance

Whistle1 World Tournament Edition (Anpfiff1 Retro WM Edition in German) is a football manager for the big tournament. You take charge of one of 169 nations, play the qualifiers or jump straight into the finals, and lead the squad through 12 groups and the knockout rounds to the title. Retro pixel look, plays offline, no ads. One developer, Digitale Manufaktur Rudolstadt, Germany. For Android.

  • A tournament, not a career. No club, no transfer haggling, no league season. One nation and eight matches to the title: three in the group, five knockout rounds from the round of 32 to the final.
  • Two roads. Straight into the finals, or through qualifying first, modelled on the format of all six continental confederations. Both are free.
  • 169 nations, a real draw. 48 finalists and 121 more from qualifying, drawn by pots with the hosts set. No two tournaments are alike.
  • The days between matches. Squad nomination, friendlies, opponent scouting, training camp, a calendar of recovery days and team evenings, press conferences and TV panels whose answers have consequences.
  • Free without a catch. The whole tournament is playable without paying: no ads, no subscription. Pro is a one-time purchase.

Questions journalists ask

Is this an official World Cup game?

No. It is not an official product of FIFA or any football association. The name avoids the term World Cup on purpose. All names can be edited freely in the game's database editor.

How is it different from Whistle1 / Anpfiff1?

The original is a career manager across many seasons with clubs in 15 countries. The World Tournament Edition concentrates on the tournament of nations, quick to play from the group stage to the final. There is no stadium building and no sponsorship, and you do not need the original to play it.

How was AI used?

The game was created with AI, its code with the AI coding assistant Claude Code. Many images in the game are AI-generated, and the translations were produced with AI support. All design, balancing and product decisions are the developer's.

Is there a review key or an embargo?

The game is free, so no key is needed. Codes for the optional purchases are available on request. There is no embargo and no NDA.

Where do I get it?

On Google Play, free. Qualifying and the finals are playable without ads and without a subscription.

Who is behind it?

Aydin Kaplan, in Rudolstadt, Thuringia, alongside a full-time job and family. The game is built on the engine of his first title, Whistle1 (Anpfiff1), released on 22 January 2026.
